Position title: WECP Program Director

Ann Lauritzen

Welcome to WECP!  I am thrilled to be a part of this innovative, world-renowned center, which offered me an opportunity to return to my roots at the Waisman Center as the Director of WECP in 2019. I began my journey in working with children 28 years ago while attending UW Madison studying social work, child psychology and Spanish. I followed up by attending graduate school at the UW earning a master’s degree in social work which included an internship at the Waisman Center’s autism and developmental disabilities clinic. During this time and for the next 6 years, I had a home daycare which promoted and celebrated inclusion. I then began working in the public schools in Dane County as a social worker, behavioral and mental health specialist, administrator, special education consultant and equity coach for children and young adults ages 3-21 years. I have 7 children between 5 years and 24 years old.  We have a very busy household! I am honored to be serving in this capacity, supporting the important work of inclusion, acceptance and life-long learning here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
