Waisman Early Learning Program is proud to offer children ages 12 months to 5 years of age a “whole child” focused curriculum. At the center of all curriculum is the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS). WMELS focuses on the five domains of development: Health and Physical, Social-Emotional, Language and Communication, Approaches to Learning, Cognition and General Knowledge. Our center follows a teacher created, WMELS based curriculum called: Changing, Learning, Growing. Our curriculum focuses on the developmental continuum rather than objectives by age. In addition, Waisman Early Childhood Program uses Kindness Curriculum to support our students in their social and emotional development.
Typical classrooms offer different areas that may include but are not limited to:
- Dramatic Play (pretend)
- Construction (blocks and props)
- Quiet activities (puzzles, books and small manipulative toys)
- Science & Math, Literacy (writing)
- Art
WECP is also an approved Madison Metropolitan School District approved Community Partner site offering 4K Kindergarten to students enrolled in our program.
